The following is a summary of assaults, robberies, commercial robberies, and other serious crimes in the areas on and immediately surrounding the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore campus, as reported in alerts issued by Johns Hopkins Security.

FEBRUARY
February 14, 2023, 9:30 p.m., 600 block of North Broadway. Assault. A nonaffiliate was walking north on North Broadway near the Hampton House when an unidentified juvenile male punched the victim in the face, causing the victim to fall to the sidewalk. The juvenile was last seen walking eastbound on East Monument Street. An off-duty Baltimore City Police Officer working at JHH was notified about the incident, responded to North Broadway, found the victim and requested an ambulance. The victim was transported to the JHH AED and treated for a minor injury to his head.
2022
DECEMBER
December 5, 2022, 3:31 p.m., 1700 block of Ashland Avenue. Attempted unarmed robbery. Two male juveniles approached a Johns Hopkins Hospital affiliate while she was walking and demanded she hand over all of her money. The affiliate continued to walk toward N. Broadway away from the suspects. The suspects discontinued their efforts, and they were last seen walking eastbound in the 1700 block of Ashland toward Rutland. Nothing taken. No injuries reported.
SEPTEMBER
September 6, 2022, 2:45 a.m., 1400 E. Monument St. at N. Caroline Street. Homicide (stabbing). An unknown male suffering from multiple stab wounds was transported to the AED by Baltimore City Fire Department Medic 1. Victim expired upon arrival. Surveillance camera footage was viewed, but the incident could not be seen.
AUGUST
August 7, 2022, 11:43 a.m., 1700 E. Monument St. at Rutland Avenue. Aggravated assault. A security officer in their personal vehicle was approached by an unidentified male walking eastbound in the 1700 block of Monument Street. There was a verbal exchange between the two parties during which the unidentified individual lifted up his t-shirt displaying what the security officer thought could be a firearm. The unidentified male continued walking towards Washington Street. Security advised on-duty local law enforcement patrolling the campus in a marked sheriff’s vehicle. The individual was then seen in the 2100 block E. Monuments Street. Upon observing the marked vehicle, he ran southbound on Duncan Street. The suspect was later observed by Baltimore City Police Officers exiting an alley off of the Monument and Milton area. The suspect began running again and was able to elude capture while throwing a firearm under a porch. The firearm was subsequently recovered by BPD. No injuries reported.
MAY
May 11, 2022, 9 p.m., 855 N. Wolfe Street between Ashland Avenue and E. Madison Street. Assault (Simple) Hate Crime. The victim exited from the Rangos Building onto N. Wolfe Street. A group of seven male teenage suspects approached the victim from behind. Someone in the group spoke two phrases in a foreign language. When the victim turned around, one of the suspects immediately struck the victim in the face. After running up an alley toward E. Madison Street, the group was last seen walking westbound in the 1900 block of E. Madison Street.
FEBRUARY
February 27, 2022, 8:05 p.m., 1800 Monument Street near Wolfe Street. Attempted robbery. A suspect approached an affiliate on the sidewalk and demanded money. The victim refused and proceeded to board a bus and left the area. No injuries reported. The suspect then utilized a cigarette lighter to ignite a small fire in a nearby trashcan and was seen on camera leaving the area eastbound on Monument Street towards Washington Street.
January 19, 2022, 1:30 a.m., 1600 Monument St. at Broadway. Armed robbery. The victim was approached by the suspect who displayed a knife and robbed the victim. Taken: money. The suspect was last seen fleeing west bound on Monument Street. No injuries reported.
2021
DECEMBER
December 26, 2021, 7:05 a.m., 2000 block of Monument St. is at the intersection of North Washington St. Armed robbery. A non-affiliate was approached from behind while the victim was making a deposit into a Wells Fargo ATM. The suspect displayed a handgun and stole the victim’s wallet and car. The suspect was last seen driving in the victim’s car north on Chester St.
SEPTEMBER
September 25, 2021, 1:30 p.m., Ashland Ave and N. Castle Street. Armed carjacking. A non-affiliate victim was approached my two males who displayed a firearm and demanded that he give them their vehicle. The victim complied and the two male suspects fled in the vehicle. No injuries reported.
September 13, 2021, unknown time during the evening, E. Fayette Street and N. Caroline St. Armed carjacking. A non-affiliate victim was with his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown suspect who struck him on the head with a handgun, injuring him, and then took his vehicle.
September 8, 2021, time unconfirmed, the Johns Hopkins shuttle stop near E. Monument Street and N. Broadway. Assault. A student had just exited the shuttle and was approached by an unknown female who threw a brick, hitting the student in the leg and shouting obscenities and racial epithets at the student.
AUGUST
August 21, 2021, 6:30 a.m., 1600 block of E. Fayette Street. Shooting. The non-affiliate victim was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
August 19, 2021, no time given, parking lot of the Northeast Market, located at 2101 E. Monument Street. The victim walked to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment.
MAY
May 3, 2021, 3:50 a.m., 1400 E. Monument Street at N. Caroline Street. Robbery. The victim was approached without provocation by two male suspects with their hands in their pockets. The suspects ordered the victim to give them her property and then fled northbound on Caroline Street.
APRIL
April 24, 2021, 9:45 p.m., 1500 Orleans St. Armed Robbery. The victim was approached by three male suspects riding in a metallic blue Honda. A suspect armed with a handgun exited the vehicle’s the front passenger side and demanded the victim’s property. Taken: a cell phone, prescriptions, and $40 in cash. The suspects fled westbound from the scene in the vehicle. No injuries reported.
MARCH
March 15, 2021, 11:55 a.m., the Bloomberg Bridge from the Orleans St. Garage. Aggravated assault. A patient being escorted by a family member got into a verbal altercation with an unknown male who displayed a pocket knife before exiting the bridge into the garage and leaving campus. No injuries reported.
FEBRUARY
February 18, 2021, 8:23 p.m., Caroline Street Garage pedestrian entrance. Attempted robbery. A suspect grabbed the victim’s bag, knocked her to the ground, and attempted to flee with the victim’s property. The suspect was last seen fleeing toward the 1500 Block East Monument Street. No injuries reported.
February 15, 2021, 6:15 a.m., 1900 E. Baltimore Street between Washington and Wolfe streets. Armed robbery. An affiliate was walking west on Baltimore Street when she was approached from behind by two suspects, a male and female. The male suspect brandished a knife and demanded the victim’s property, which she surrendered. The suspects fled southbound on Wolfe St. No injuries were reported.
February 12, 2021, 7:05 a.m. E. Baltimore and S. Regester streets. Robbery. An affiliate was walking toward the hospital when they were approached from behind by the suspect who said, “Give me all your money.” They advised the suspect that they did not have any money at which time a brief struggle ensued causing the victim’s wallet and keys to fall out of their pocket. The suspect picked up the wallet and ran southbound on Regester Street. No injuries were reported.
February 11, 2021, 7:10 a.m., E. Baltimore and S. Ann streets. Attempted robbery. An affiliate was walking northbound on S. Ann St when the suspect, who had been walking behind them, walked past them then turned around, grabbed their neck and pushing them against a parked car. The victim screamed and the suspect fled the area. No injuries were reported.
February 9, 2021, 7:40 a.m., 300 Block on N. Washington (Washington and Fayette). Robbery. An affiliate was walking northbound on Washington Street and had just crossed Fayette Street when someone approached from behind, grabbed their arm, and took their wallet out of their purse. The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction. No injuries reported.
2020
NOVEMBER
Nov. 30, 2020, 6:35 p.m., Washington Street at Fairmont Avenue. Armed robbery. An affiliate was walking northbound on Washington Street when she was approached from behind by two male suspects. One of the suspects said, “Give me the bag or I will shoot you.” The victim observed a suspect holding a handgun. The suspects grabbed the victim’s property and fled eastbound in 2000 block of E. Fairmount. No injuries reported.
Nov. 18, 2020, 6:50 p.m., Castle Street Park between Washington and Castle streets and Baltimore and Fairmount streets. Armed robbery. An affiliate was approached from behind by two suspects who pointed a gun and demanded property. The victim complied, and one of the suspects then searched the victim before fleeing the scene. No injuries reported.
Nov. 5, 2020, 3:15 a.m., unit block of S. Washington Street. Attempted robbery. A suspect approached an affiliate sitting in his vehicle. The suspect demanded property and the affiliate handed over his cell phone, but refused to give the code to unlock it. After a brief verbal exchange, the suspect returned the phone and fled the area. No injuries reported.
AUGUST
Aug. 19, 2020, 4:30 a.m., unit block of S. Wolfe Street between Baltimore and Lombard streets. Armed robbery. An affiliate walking northbound was approached by four suspects. A juvenile armed with handgun said, “Give me your back pack and cell phone.” The suspects took the property and fled on foot into the alley. No injuries reported.
Aug. 3, 2020, 2 a.m., 300 N. Broadway at Orleans Street, Popeye’s parking lot. Aggravated assault. A non-affiliate was approached by a suspect who cut the victim’s arm. The suspect fled behind Douglas Homes. The victim walked to Johns Hopkins Adult Emergency Department for treatment.
Aug. 2, 2020, 11 a.m., 200 block of N. Chester Street. Attempted armed robbery. An affiliate was walking to Johns Hopkins when he was approached by a suspect who demanded money while implying that he had a handgun. The victim was able to walk away when the suspect was distracted by others in the area.
JULY
July 26, 2020, 7 p.m., 1800 E. Orleans St., Johns Hopkins Hospital main entrance circle. Aggravated assault. Two non-affiliates were standing outside the Pediatric Emergency Department when a vehicle drove up alongside of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect picked up an individual exiting the hospital and got into a verbal dispute with the victim prior to departing the area. According to victim, the suspect made racial slurs and drove away, striking the victim’s left leg with his right front bumper. The victim refused medical care and left the scene.
July 2, 2020, 12:51 a.m., first block of N. Wolfe Street. Armed robbery. An affiliate was walking when he was confronted by a man who said, “If you don’t drop the wallet, I’ll shoot you.” The suspect implied he had a weapon in his waistband, took the victim’s wallet, and fled westbound on foot. No injuries reported.
JUNE
June 6, 2020, 6:47 p.m., 1000 N. Broadway, at Broadway and Eager Street. Assault and robbery. A non-affiliate was assaulted and robbed by three males. Taken: a wallet and an Orioles shirt. The victim was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment.
MAY
May 18, 2020, 3:30 p.m., 800 block N. Washington Street at E. Madison Street. Assault. An affiliate was struck in the face by a member of a group of juvenile males. The group fled northbound in the 1100 block Patterson Park Avenue. The victim refused medical treatment.
May 17, 2020, 12:15 a.m., 1100 N. Chester Street at Chase Street. Armed robbery. A non-affiliate was approached by two men who displayed a knife and robbed the victim of his cell phone, bank card, and cash before fleeing. The victim sustained a contusion to his lower lip.
MARCH
March 13, 2020, 4:05 p.m., 1700 block of E. Fairmount Avenue. Assault and robbery. A male affiliate was trying to enter his home when he was approached from behind by two suspects who punched him in the face and grabbed his cell phone out of his hand. Security intervened and the suspects fled west on E. Fairmount Avenue then north on N. Broadway into Douglas Homes apartments. The victim sustained a cut to his lip but refused medical treatment.
FEBRUARY
Feb. 10, 2020, 7:45 a.m., 600 block N. Castle Street at McElderry Street. Armed robbery. An affiliate was walking north bound in the 600 block N. Castle Street when he was approached by the suspect, who displayed an unknown handgun from his waist band and robbed the victim of his property. The suspect was last seen fleeing south on N. Castle Street out of view. No injuries reported.
JANUARY
Jan. 21, 2020, 4:45 p.m., 716 N. Broadway at E. Madison Street. Aggravated assault (shooting). The driver of a White Dodge Infinity exited his vehicle, displayed a firearm, and fired one shot at two juvenile males riding on dirt bikes at the above location. The first juvenile jumped off his dirt bike and fled into the apartments in the 1600 block E. Madison Street. The second juvenile continued riding his dirt bike south on N. Broadway then east on Orleans Street out of view. The adult male jumped on the abandoned dirt bike and was last observed chasing the second juvenile on Orleans Street. An affilate’s unoccupied vehicle parked at the above location was struck by gun fire. It is unknown at this time if anyone was injured due to the gun fire.
Jan. 18, 2020, 10:15 p.m., 1800 block of E. Fairmount Ave. between N. Ann and N. Wolfe streets. Armed robbery. An affiliate walking eastbound on E. Fairmount Avenue was approached from behind by two suspects, one male and one female. The male suspect said, “Don’t turn around, just keep walking.” The victim turned and saw the two suspects, each holding a small black handgun. Both suspects told the victim to turn around and the male suspect said, “Give me your keys, wallet, and cell phone.” The victim complied with the demand and was then instructed to keep walking and not to turn around. The suspects fled in an unknown direction after they could not start the victim’s car. No injuries reported.
2019
DECEMBER
Dec. 27, 2019, 10:35 p.m., Johns Hopkins’ subway platform (behind Mama Mia’s Restaurant). Armed robbery. A non-affiliate was approached by a juvenile male suspect who displayed a knife, robbed the victim, and fled the area in an unknown direction. Taken: a cell phone. No injuries reported.
Dec. 16, 2019, 3:40 p.m., 800 N. Caroline Street at E. Madison Street. Attempted armed robbery. An affiliate was walking to his vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects who displayed a hand gun and demanded the keys to the affiliate’s vehicle. The victim was able to flee and report the incident to the Johns Hopkins security officer assigned to the E. Monument and N. Caroline post. The suspects fled in an unknown direction. No injuries reported.
* Dec. 10, 2019, 4:45 p.m., 900 N. Washington St. (Ashland Garage, 7th level). Attempted robbery/carjacking. The victim was approached by one of three juvenile suspects (possibly armed), who demanded her cell phone and keys. The victim screamed and the suspects fled the area.
OCTOBER
Oct. 29, 2019, 1:25 p.m., 600 block N. Broadway. Two affiliates were waiting for the JHU shuttle while talking on their cell phones. They were approached by two juveniles, approximately 14 to 16 years old, who grabbed their phones and fled south on N. Broadway. Johns Hopkins Security gave chase as one suspect was last seen fleeing into the Douglas Homes complex and the second suspect fled east on E. Fayette out of view. Baltimore Police responded and are investigating the incident. No injuries reported.
SEPTEMBER
Sept. 25, 2019, 12:15 p.m., 1800 block of Ashland Avenue. Assault. A non-affiliate was walking east bound when two unknown juvenile males riding on a scooter in the opposite direction slapped her on her buttocks as they rode by. The suspects fled west bound on Ashland Avenue. There were no injuries.
AUGUST
Aug. 23, 2019, 6:05 a.m., 100 N. Wolfe St. at East Fairmount Street. Assault and armed robbery. A female affiliate was approached by two male suspects who demanded her property. One of the suspects displayed a handgun. The victim gave the suspect her back pack and started to run north on N. Wolfe Street. JH Corporate Security and BDP were notified. The suspects were last seen fleeing west on Fairmount Street. There were no injuries.
Aug. 9, 2019, 2:05 p.m., 200 block N. Broadway at Orleans Street, side of Popeye’s parking lot. A female non-affiliate was walking southbound when a male suspect, who was walking northbound, approached her, reached out, and grabbed the cell phone out of her hand, causing minor injury to the right side of her face. The suspect fled westbound into the Douglas Homes apartments. The victim reported the incident to a Johns Hopkins security officer. BPD was notified and responded to the scene.
Aug. 4, 2019, 5:50 a.m., 400 block of N. Castle at Jefferson Street. Attempted armed robbery and attempted stabbing. The victim was approached in an alley off of Jefferson Street by a man who demanded his belongings. The victim resisted and a struggle ensued. The suspect was unsuccessful in his attempts to stab and rob the victim. The suspect fled eastbound on Jefferson Street.
JULY
July 31, 2019, 9:15 p.m., Aggravated assault. An affiliate was walking away from the East Baltimore campus westbound on Orleans Street. As he passed Dunbar High School at 1400 Orleans St., a group of male juveniles began to follow him. The affiliate continued walking and when he reached the area near Aisquith and Fayette streets, the juveniles began throwing rocks, bricks, and bottles, hitting the affiliate in the face. A security officer at the nearby Ronald McDonald House called 911. After BPD and firefighters arrived, the affiliate was treated, transported to the hospital for further treatment, and released.
July 10, 2019, 2:35 a.m., 1600 E. Monument Street at N. Caroline Street. Armed carjacking. A Johns Hopkinss security officer observed the following and called 911. A male nonaffiliate driving a red minivan stopped at the location above. One of two male suspects exited a nearby vehicle and approached the victim while pointing an unknown weapon. The suspect pulled the victim out of the minivan and struck him on the head with an unknown weapon before fleeing in the minivan out of view on N. Caroline Street. The victim was taken to John Hopkins Hospital by a Baltimore City medic for treatment.
JUNE
June 17, 2019, 4:05 p.m., 100 N. Broadway, between Fayette Street and Fairmount Avenue. Robbery. A man approached an affiliate from behind and grabbed her purse after a brief struggle. Security officers chased the man, who tossed the purse. The purse was recovered, but the victim’s wallet was missing. The victim sustained minor scratches, but did not rquire medical treatment.
June 14, 2019, 5 p.m., 1700 lock E. Monument Street, between Broadway and Rutland Avenue. Assault. An affiliate was struck twice on the back of the head when a group of five to seven juvenile males ran past. The juveniles headed westbound on Monument Street and then northbound on Broadway before entering the MTA subway platform. There were no injuries.
APRIL
April 17, 2019, 9:25 p.m., 200 N. Broadway, corner of Broadway and Fayette Street. Shooting. Three non-affiliates were shot while inside a parked car; perpetrator fled. No further details.
MARCH
March 22, 2019, 3:30 p.m., 1400 block of Monument St. at North Caroline St. Assault. A woman was standing at the bus stop when four juvenile male suspects ran up and pushed her to the ground. There were no injuries.
March 20, 2019, 9:47 a.m., 1400 block of E. Lexington St. Carjacking (robbery). An affiliate parked his vehicle and was walking towards campus when he was approached from behind by three male suspects. The suspects pushed the affiliate to the ground, choked him, and struck him in the face multiple times, taking his car keys and stealing his car. The victim sustained minor injuries, but declined treatment.
March 18, 2019, 6:37 p.m., 500 block of N. Caroline St. Assault. Two juvenile males approached a non-affiliate from behind and struck him in the head with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground. The victim was later treated at JHH emergency department.
March 14, 2019, Broadway and Pratt St. Armed robbery. BPD arrested two individuals on Wolfe Street after a brief pursuit. One suspect was arrested at the ambulance ramp and the second was arrested at the Wolfe Street employee entrance. No injuries reported and no Johns Hopkins affiliates were involved.
March 14, 2019, shortly after midnight, 1400 May St. A shooting at the location caused stray bullet to shatter a window on the 6th floor of the Skip Viragh Outpatient Cancer Building at 201 N. Broadway. There were no injuries.
*March 12, 2019, 2:30 p.m., Subway, 2051 E. Monument St. Attempted armed robbery. A suspect entered the sandwich shop, displayed a knife, and tried to rob the clerk before fleeing eastbound on Monument Street. No cash was taken.
*March 8, 2019, 6:45 a.m., 7-Eleven, 900 N. Wolfe St. Armed robbery. A man entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash before fleeing south on Wolfe Street in a dark vehicle.
*March 5, 2019, 1:33 p.m., Wells Fargo Bank, 2008 E. Monument St. Robbery. A man entered the bank and handed a teller a note announcing a holdup. Taken: cash.
March 1, 2019, 5:47 p.m., Popeye’s Restaurant parking lot, Broadway and Orleans streets. Armed robbery. A woman exited a parked, black vehicle and approached a non-affiliate as she was picking up cash from the ground. The woman claimed to have a knife. Taken: A purse and cash.
FEBRUARY
Feb. 27, 2019, 6:45 a.m., 2000 block of Jefferson St. Robbery. A man and a woman approached a non-affiliate, demanding his personal property. Taken: iPad, phone, and cash.
JANUARY
Jan. 17, 2019, 11 a.m., 400 block of N. Broadway. A non-affiliate was entering her car in a parking lot when an individual approached and struck her above the right eye with a handgun. She drove herself to the hospital emergency department for treatment. No property was taken.
Jan. 8, 2019, 11:15 a.m., 700 block of N. Caroline St. Assault. Three juvenile individuals approached a pedestrian Johns Hopkins affiliate from the rear. One individual punched the victim in the back of the head with a closed fist.
2018
DECEMBER
Dec. 29, 2018, 12:18 a.m., South Ann and Lamley streets. Armed robbery and assault. One individual wearing a ski mask and carrying a handgun emerged from a van carrying five other individuals. The armed man approached a non-affiliate, punched the victim in the eye and stole personal property. Taken: phone and cash. Dec. 3, 2018, 3:50 p.m., 1000 block of N. Washington St. Attempted armed robbery. A Johns Hopkins affiliate was approached from the rear by two juveniles individuals who showed a handgun and demanded that the affiliate “give it up.” The victim ran and immediately reported the incident to Security. No property was taken.
NOVEMBER
Nov. 27, 2018, 5:22 p.m., 400 block of N. Washington St. Robbery. A single juvenile individual attempted to take a cell phone from a non-affiliate pedestrian. When the victim resisted, two other juveniles joined the first. Taken: phone and purse.
Nov. 26, 2018, 5:30 p.m., 600 block of N. Washington St. Attempted robbery. A single juvenile approached a Johns Hopkins affiliate at a bus stop, grabbed her purse and attempted to flee. The affiliate resisted and fell to the ground and the juvenile fled without the purse.
Nov. 16, 2018, 7:40 p.m., 1400 block of E. Monument St. Armed robbery. Three juvenile individuals approached a pedestrian Johns Hopkins affiliate; one individual pointed a handgun at the affiliate and demanded cash and a cell phone. The individuals pushed the affiliate to the ground and took his phone by force. The affiliate suffered a bruised knee, but declined treatment. Taken: phone (other juveniles in the area witnessed the robbery, chased the perpetrators and retrieved the phone for the affiliate).
Nov. 15, 2018, 11 p.m., 200 block of N. Caroline St. Carjacking (robbery). Two individuals approached a Johns Hopkins affiliate seated in his car and banged on the window. The affiliate got out of his car and was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object and briefly knocked unconscious. When he regained consciousness, his car had been stolen. He suffered a minor injury. Taken: car.
Nov. 13, 2018, 2:15 p.m., 1500 block of Ashland Ave. Assault and robbery. A Johns Hopkins affiliate was approached from the rear by three individuals and struck with a closed fist. Affiliate suffered a nose injury but declined treatment. Taken: wallet and phone.
Nov. 6, 2018, 11:50 p.m., 500 block of N. Castle St. Carjacking (armed robbery). Individual armed with a handgun robbed non-affiliate and drove away in the victim’s car. Victim’s shoulder injured when he fell while fleeing the scene; he was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital emergency department for treatment. Taken: car and personal property.
Nov. 6, 2018, 12:45 p.m., 1900 block of Ashland Ave. Commercial robbery. Individual grabbed money out of the cash register through the service window of a food truck. Taken: cash.
OCTOBER
Oct. 20, 2018, 5:45 p.m., 200 block of N. Central Ave. between Fayette and Baltimore streets. Robbery. Individuals robbed a Johns Hopkins affiliate. Taken: personal property.
Oct. 8, 2018, 6:50 p.m., 700 block of N. Eden St. at E. Monument St. Armed robbery. Juvenile individual robbed a non-affiliate pedestrian at gunpoint and fled on foot. Taken: personal property.
Oct. 2, 2018, 9:30 p.m., 1100 block of N. Broadway. Attempted armed robbery. A Johns Hopkins affiliate riding a bicycle northbound on Broadway was approached by four juvenile individuals, one armed with a handgun. They demanded the affiliate’s cell phone, wallet, backpack and bike. Baltimore police and Johns Hopkins security vehicles approaching the area activated their emergency lights; the juveniles fled and separated without the affiliate’s property.
SEPTEMBER
Sept. 14, 2018, 8:15 a.m., 1600 block of E. Fairmount Avenue. Assault. Johns Hopkins affiliate walking eastbound was approached and was kissed on the cheek by an individual. Circumstances and suspect description were similar to those in the other Sept. 14 incident.
Sept. 14, 2018, 7:55 a.m., 100 block of N. Broadway. Sexual assault. Johns Hopkins affiliate pedestrian waiting to cross an intersection at a traffic light was approached and was kissed on the cheek and touched on the buttocks.
Sept. 6, 2018, vicinity of Bond and Eager streets. Aggravated assault. A gunman in a vehicle opened fire on a group holding a vigil for the victim in the Sept. 3 incident. Three youth – ages 14, 17 and 19 – were wounded. All were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital and survived.
Sept. 3, 2018, 11:11 p.m., 1600 block of E. Eager Street, near Broadway. Homicide. A non-affiliate was found shot to the head by a firearm. He was transported to a hospital, where he died of his wounds.
AUGUST
Aug. 20, 2018, 5:35 p.m., near the intersection of E. Madison and N. Caroline streets. Aggravated assault. Non-affiliate shot. Police responding to a ShotSpotter alert chased potential suspects and recovered a handgun. Victim transported by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Hospital emergency department.
JULY
July 24, 2018, 8:15 a.m., North Wolfe Street and 1900 block of Ashland Avenue. Assault. Johns Hopkins affiliate standing on the sidewalk was touched on the forearm by an individual who made a suggestive remark and leaned in toward victim making kissing noises.
July 19, 2018, 5:30 p.m., 600 block of North Washington Street. Robbery. Pedestrian affiliate’s wireless headphones taken by juvenile individual riding past on a bicycle. Taken: headphones.
JUNE
June 26, 2018, 10:50 p.m., Robbery and assault. 1800 block Orleans Street (near the Orleans Garage entrance). A non-affiliate walking along the street was pushed against a wall by three suspects and struck in the face by one of the three. Another grabbed the victim’s bag of fast food. Taken: food.
APRIL
*April 12, 2018, 3:40 p.m., Bank robbery (armed). 2000 block E. Monument Street. Wells Fargo bank branch robbed by a male individual carrying a note claiming he had a gun and demanding money. Taken: cash.
FEBRUARY
*Feb. 25, 2018, late night to early morning. Burglary. Inside commercial business in the Johns Hopkins Hospital complex. This was the latest of a series of burglaries in commercial businesses in the hospital complex on different dates. Arrest warrant obtained for a suspect believed responsible for the burglaries.
Feb. 15, 2018, 4:30 p.m., Robbery. 700 block. N. Broadway. Non-affiliate approached from behind and was threatened with stabbing, though no knife was seen. Taken: phone.
*Feb. 7, 2018, 5:10 p.m., Attempted armed robbery. Washington and Monument streets. Individual attempted to rob a Dunkin Donuts at gunpoint.
JANUARY
Jan. 30, 2018, 1:20 p.m., Armed robbery. 600 block N. Castle Street. Non-affiliate robbed at knifepoint by three male individuals. Taken: personal property.
Jan. 24, 2018, 7:10 p.m., Armed robbery. 700 block N. Broadway. Non-affiliate grabbed and robbed at knifepoint by two male individuals. Taken: personal property. A Kennedy Krieger security officer and an off-duty Baltimore sheriff’s deputy working for Johns Hopkins witnessed the robbery. They chased and arrested one of the perpetrators.
*Jan. 19, 2018, about 12 noon., Aggravated assault (double shooting). Inside 621 N. Duncan St. between Monument and McElderry streets. Reported double shooting; perpetrator fled. No further details.
2017
NOVEMBER
Nov. 13, 2017, 1:35 a.m., Aggravated assault (shooting). 1700 block of E. Monument Street near Broadway. Two eastbound vehicles stopped just past the intersection. One occupant of each car exited vehicles and got into a physical altercation. One pulled a gun and shot the other in the right leg. Victim was later treated at JHH emergency department.
Nov. 9, 2017, 6:05 p.m., Assault. Caroline Street between Jefferson and McElderry streets. Affiliate approached by six or seven male individuals, one of whom struck the victim in the face, causing minor injuries.
Nov. 9, 2017, 4:50 p.m., Property damage. Madison Street at Ensor Street. Affiliate driving west was approached at traffic light by four male individuals, who yelled at the driver and then kicked the rear panel of the vehicle on the driver side, causing significant damage.
OCTOBER
Oct. 24, 2017, 4:40 p.m., Assault and robbery. 1400 block E. Monument Street. Kennedy Krieger affiliate approached from behind by five male individuals, who struck the victim and took his property. Victim suffered minor injuries. Third known incident in three weeks at this approximate location, at approximately the same time with perhaps the same perpetrators.
Oct. 4, 2017, 4 p.m., Assault and robbery. Monument Street at Eden Street. Johns Hopkins affiliate confronted and punched in the face by three male individuals. Taken: purse, wallet, cell phone, tablet. (Purse and wallet recovered by passerby who gave chase.)

Aug. 16, 2017, 11:37 p.m., Aggravated assault (shooting). 300 block N. Broadway (rear). Non-affiliate shot in the left leg. Victim taken by ambulance to a hospital.
*Aug. 2, 2017, 2:45 p.m., Bank robbery. 1800 block E. Monument Street. Bank of America branch robbed by male individual who handed a teller a note and fled with a bag of money. Taken: cash.
Aug. 2, 2017, 12:15 p.m., Aggravated assault (shooting). 900 block N. Broadway. Three non-affiliates shot.

July 19, 2017, 5:34 p.m., Aggravated assault (shooting). Chester and McElderry streets. Non-affiliate walked from scene to security officer posted at Washington and Monument streets and reported being shot in the left foot.
July 18, 2017, 8:12 p.m., Assault and attempted robbery. 400 block North Central Avenue. Victim sustained injuries. Group of individuals also believed responsible for the other July 18 incident. No further information.
